1and1 Corporate Headquarters Phone Number
August 26th, 2008 | Published in Web Hosting | 21 Comments
As the saga continues with my 1 and 1 hosting problems, I’ve ran through several fully charged batteries on my blackberry trying to get things straightened out. Some of that phone time was spent trying to get the phone number for the 1and1 corporate offices on Lee Road in PA. (This is where the sales team is, coincidentally.)
So I called the sales team (which is the number the tech support people give when you ask for head office) and was hung up on twice, and transferred back to tech support in the Philippines twice. I finally got a mature sales agent on the phone who basically admitted that the company was way to big to handle true tech issues in a timely manner.
Still no executive numbers. Even after an extensive search online. I did manage to get a 1&1 sales manager’s name and extension:
Burt – Sales Manager Supervisor, at Ext 2579 – I’ll be calling old burt tomorrow morning.
Again, I understand now that I got what I paid for.

The actual sales number is 610-560-1441 and your Pal Burt is not a manager but a supervisor.

Thanks Chris – did you get any other information for any higher level employees? There are some real injustices being done within that company and they need to answer to their “customers”

Thanks so much for your post. I have spent 15 hours trying to get their service to work to no avail. I ask for a supervisor or 2nd level and I’m told no one is available. They have the worst customer service on the planet. I will be calling them, blogging about them and doing everything possible to show my sheer frustration and dissatisfaction. Did you transfer to another company or did you get your problem resolved? If so, how? If not, whom do you now use?

Wendy, I feel your pain. What problems are you experiencing?
I switched to GoDaddy and bought a higher level of package. The difference is very good. Their support is 10000% better. So far So good.

I called the number you provided and spoke with a nice person in sales who offered to connect me to supervisor in the Phillippines. I did not have time to do that today but will try that before I throw in the towel. I write an expert blog for Fast Company and plan to blog about my experience and will link to your site/post.
I have two major problems. One is the service every hour takes my system hostage for five minutes when it caches and times out. Beyond that every other day for some reason, I can’t send emails from Outlook using my 1and1 account for some four hours but have no problem using a pop account via charter that I also use via Outlook. 1and1 set me up on an imap account.
If you don’t mind my asking, which service package did you buy from GoDaddy?
Thanks for your help and support and I will let you know the outcome.

Wow, it really sounds like you are having a nightmare experience. I went with the godaddy business plan (microsoft hosting) and like I said, it’s like night and day. I’m not saying Godaddy is the best, I’m just saying they are many times better than 1and1.
I really wish it was possible to get contact information for an executive level employee at the US head office. I was unsuccessful in getting that information.
You can also try the 1and1 US public relations contact annmarie.tropiano@1and1.com I sent but only got a read receipt. No replies.

Thank you. I am writing an open letter to the CEO on my expert blog for Fast Company and will also send a hard copy. I will also send a copy to the PR person you just provided me with. I will let you know if I hear back from anyone. Apparently, the company cares little about its brand since your blog post comes up right away when you type in 1and1 on Google. Shame on them.

Wow! I read through these emails…I am incurring the same frustrations. I cannot get through to the executives in this company (asked for the CEOs office) – was hoping to find a number by googling corporate headquarters, and that is how i found this string. Same issues with ridiculous responses in the Phillipines. The company has caused a problem with my credit because of their own flaw and I can’t seem to get anyone there to listen or call me back. It has been a nightmare! Indeed SHAME ON THEM!

Sagit – I really do feel your pain. The best thing you can do for yourself, is just pay the bill. It’s not worth screwing your credit for. If you find a corporate number, PLEASE let us know!

I have a spurious billing issue with 1and1 internet. Has any one been successful getting a corporate contact number?
Thanks
October 22nd, 2008 at 1:12 pm (#)
thanks for your response. problem is that my bill already went to collections and already impacted my credit. all this happened without my knowledge. i have been a loyal paying customer and my credit card expired and amex didn’t automatically re assume this ongoing payment. 1 and 1 had a VERY old email and address associated with my account and apparently they tried (as well as the credit agency) to reach me with no success. it was total coincidence that i found out. if i pay the bill to collections, i am admitting to this fault, and my credit stays affected. i tried to explain this to 1 and 1 billing but they don’t care…so now I am going through hoops to dispute this in alternate routes…nightmare…

I am through! How about we file a class action law suit! We need to hit ‘em where it hurts. Let’s build a counter attack! They want to ignore us, let’s go to CNN about this problem. Let’s get Clark Howard on the issue!
Anyone want to help me mount a fight? They have a great product but PISS POOR MANAGEMENT! The service is GREAT when it works, which it does for the most part, but HORRIBLE when it goes down!
Will anyone fight with me?

I have a different problem — with 1&1 domains. They say two domains I purchased through a different account (we were trying to transfer them to the corporate account) are being “held” for “collections.” It seems they “notified” me that my autobilling was past due by email. NO email ever arrived on my servers (I run my own servers) from them about such a bill. They refuse to show me an email but meanwhile, on two domains I wanted very badly and would have gladly paid for had I been notified, they’ve turned the matter over to collections and now demand an ADDITIONAL $40 to release them.
So they dinged my credit for lack of proper notification, claiming their agreement states I agree to be notified by email — the most unreliable communications method today.
I mean — two domains. What was the bill? $20?
And everyone watch out for GoDaddy, too. If they even “think” you’re spamming (i.e. ONE complaint from someone even if they SUBSCRIBE to hear from you), they “investigate” and FREEZE your domain until you’re proven innocent. If you prove you’re innocent (we did), they charge you a $250 “incident” fee anyway.
I didn’t pay the fee — I moved my domains to 1&1.
Their excuse for email notification only? “We’re a green company.” I asked did they ever hear of the phone and do they have my number?” Yes — they did. That’s not the issue.
Bad business!!!

I have dealt with 6 individuals. 4 of them call center agents. 2 separate so-called “Tech support supervisors”. NOTHING has worked. When my original IT company rep set up the domains he left us NO password information. We re-located our office and now our companies are shut down for the last 48 hours because we cannot even get them to change to a working e-mail on our account profile so that we can re-set our password to re-set our IP addresses. I have filed a Better Business Bureau Complaint and also have filed a formal complaint with internic, which is the governing organization for ALL domains throughout the entire world. Furthermore, I run a legal services company within the account receivables firm management industry. They messed with the wrong individual. My legal counsel will be filing a legal suit against 1and1 for their negligence in handling my company domains.

1&1 is great, you guys are just retards…

1&1 is really very low level company, they are not cancelling my accounts, last I tried in February 2008, I canceled my all account with them, but some how they reactivate without my approval and keep on billing. they do not let me Cancell by writing letter, I cannot log in, they do not email me, my log in data, on which basis I can prove that I canceled my all account.some one told me to complain with Attorney General of PA and department of Justice. this company has very bad review on Internet. Stay away from them.go for godaddy.com,
please guide me how to cancel my account.

I can see from all of this that I am certainly not alone and being a journalist, I am digging deeper. I have experienced multiple issues with this company, including bad technical support, off-shore non-native English speakers, repeted issues with the site, and when I wanted to cancel service have now been told I somehow was auto-renewed for another 2 years and can’t get out of the contract…AND, to make matters worse (and believe me I am now going to friends at Wired magazine to sort this out since they wrote the original article that got me to try the service, they refuse to transfer my paid for owned domain name which I originally registered through another company and only pointed toward their site hosting service, which they then took over and now are insisting that they will not transfer the domain unless I sign another contract with them for the domain registrations. In effect they are trying to hold this dimain name hostage. I have started reading articles to the effect that they are “stealing domain names” and THIS I will not tolerate because it is in essence blackmail and I do not believe this is legal.
SO…I AM going to now lodge a complaint with Consumer Reports and the FTC, I AM going to both Wired Magazine and Boing-Boing contatcs and I AM working ym way up the food chain through corporate research and sources to get to the top person there. I urge every one of you to get a hold of Consumer Reports and issue a complain and also with the FTC.
The more people who speak out, the better chance to stop others from this type of extortion.

Well, well, well… I am happy (although not really) to see that I am not alone in my issues with Done & Done. I first called to verify DNS settings for our server upgrade over 10 days. I asked to speak with someone on a higher level of support and who spoke English I could understand. The person I spoke with said they could handle it. 5 Days later, the net is still pointing to the old server. Meanwhile we are incurring fees from HostGator for having two dedicated servers, because dealing with dOne & dOne, our billing period had lapsed. We call 4 days ago, I’m told that what we were told on the first call was wrong….again I asked to speak to someone who I could understand….I call again the next day, I want to verify what I was told the day before was accurate and done properly…AGAIN…I’m on the phone with someone who “donta speaka no english” at least English which is comprehensible to the rest of us.
I write a flaming letter to their so called support, get a reply with all this “we’re going to get to the bottom of this” blah…blah. I just now issued an ultimatum, that if we don’t get an adequate response today by 3pm…we are filing a complaint with ICANN, but many of you above have suggested some other good organizations with which to file complaints.
Truthfully, I think I much prefer to use my skills in SEO and Internet marketing to make sure anyone thinking of doing business with them hears about out stories first.
To anyone considering using 1&1 Hosting/1and1 Hosting/ One and One Hosting/ (good you’ve found us here) DONT! They have English speaking sales people, but once they get your contract, you will deal with a tech support team who reads a script and barely speaks English.

1&1’s tech support is the worst I have ever encountered. Everytime I call, I get someone who doesn’t speak English as their first language. They don’t listen to the problem, they just start offering useless advice from their script book (“clear your cookies”, “reboot your computer”, etc.) Their e-mail support is just as bad. Their replies are riddled with poor grammar and useless advise. If you have a continuing problem, they just stick their head in the sand and ignore you. After about the second time, the just quit replying. In one instance I got a reply that said “that’s a problem with Web Site Builder that can’t be fixed.” Can’t be fixed? If I’m paying for it, I expect it to work right. Guess it’s time to change to Go Daddy. I would NEVER recommend 1&1 to anyone.

I have a problem with exchange hosting. 8 days. no resolution. tech support cannot help with anything so they escalate to the all-powerful “admins.” The admins cannot speak to the unwashed masses – they respond by sending cryptic messages. I also spoke to “Burt” after leaving me on hold for 20 minutes I complained and he yelled “oh God” and hung up on me.
What a disaster this company is.
